                        Whereas the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (referred to in this Order as “the Agreement”) was approved, given effect and declared valid by the Western Arctic (Inuvialuit Claims Settlement Act;

                     And whereas, pursuant to subsection 11(4) of the Agreement, the Governor in Council shall designate from time to time which Minister shall, by letter of appointment, make appointments on behalf of Canada for the purposes of section 11;

                     Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and pursuant to subsection 11(4) of the Agreement, hereby designates the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development to make appointments on behalf of the Government of Canada to the Environmental Impact Screening Committee and the Environmental Impact Review Board referred to in section 11 of the Agreement.

                     Attendu que la Convention définitive des Inuvialuit (la « Convention ») a été approuvée, mise en oeuvre et déclarée valide par la Loi sur le règlement des revendications des Inuvialuit de la région ouest de l’Arctique;

                     Attendu que, en vertu du paragraphe 11(4) de la Convention, la gouverneure en conseil doit préciser de temps à autre quel ministre est censé procéder au moyen de lettres de nomination, aux nominations au nom du Canada en application de l’article 11,

                     À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre des Affaires indiennes et du Nord canadien et en vertu du paragraphe 11(4) de la Convention, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil précise que le ministre des Affaires indiennes et du Nord canadien a le pouvoir de procéder aux nominations des membres du Comité d’étude des répercussions environnementales et du Bureau d’examen des répercussions environnementales visées à l’article 11 de la Convention.
