                     Whereas the Honourable Michel Proulx, a Puisne Judge of the Court of Appeal of Quebec, who has continued in judicial office for at least fifteen years, has tendered his resignation effective August 23, 2004, and as of that date his combined age and number of years in judicial office is not less than eighty;

                     Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, hereby

(a) accepts the resignation of the Honourable Michel Proulx; and

(b) pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(a) of the Judges Act, grants him an annuity of $146,266.66, commencing on August 23, 2004 and continuing during his life.

                     Attendu que l’honorable Michel Proulx, juge puîné de la Cour d’appel du Québec, après avoir exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins quinze ans, a donné sa démission, laquelle prend effet le 23 août 2004, et qu’à cette date, le chiffre obtenu par l’addition de son âge et du nombre d’années d’exercice est d’au moins quatre-vingt,

                     À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de l’honorable Michel Proulx;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)a) de la Loi sur les juges, lui accorde, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 146 266,66 $, payable à compter du 23 août 2004.
