                     Whereas the Honourable J.S. Armand DesRoches, Chief Justice of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of  

Prince Edward Island, who has attained the age of fifty-five years, who has continued in judicial office for at least ten years and who has elected early retirement with an immediate annuity, has tendered his resignation effective September 4, 2004.

                     Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, hereby

(a) accepts the resignation of the  

Honourable J.S. Armand DesRoches; and

(b) pursuant to subsection 43.1(1) of the Judges Act, hereby grants him an annuity of $141,034.67, commencing on September 4, 2004 and continuing during his life.

                     Attendu que l’honorable J.S. Armand DesRoches, juge en chef de la Division de première instance de la Cour suprême de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, ayant atteint l’âge de cinquante-cinq ans, ayant exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans et ayant choisi une retraite anticipée avec une pension immédiate, a donné sa démission, laquelle prend effet le 4 septembre 2004,

                     À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de  

l’honorable J.S. Armand DesRoches;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 43.1(1) de la Loi sur les juges, lui accorde à titre viager une pension annuelle de 141 034,67 $, payable à compter du 4 septembre 2004.
