                     Whereas the position of President of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has been vacant since November 29, 2003;

                     Whereas, pursuant to subsection 65(4) of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Minister of the Environment appointed Robert Connelly, Vice-President, Policy Development, Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, on November 29, 2003, to act as the President for the time being in the event of the absence or incapacity of the President or a vacancy in that office;

                     Whereas, pursuant to subsection 65(5) of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, a person appointed pursuant to subsection 65(4) shall not act as the President for a period exceeding ninety days without the approval of the Governor in Council;

                     Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to subsection 65(5) of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, hereby approves that Robert Connelly act as President of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency for a period exceeding ninety days, effective February 26, 2004.

                     Attendu que le poste de président de l’Agence canadienne d’évaluation environnementale est vacant depuis le 29 novembre 2003;

                     Attendu que, en vertu du paragraphe 65(4) de la Loi canadienne sur l’évaluation environnementale, le ministre de l’Environnement a nommé Robert Connelly, vice-président, Élaboration des politiques, Agence canadienne d’évaluation environnementale, le 29 novembre 2003 pour exercer les fonctions du président en cas d'absence ou d'empêchement du président, ou de vacance de son poste;

                     Attendu que, en vertu du paragraphe 65(5) de la Loi canadienne sur l’évaluation environnementale, une personne nommée aux termes du paragraphe 65(4) ne peut exercer les fonctions du président que pour une période de

quatre-vingt-dix jours, sauf approbation du gouverneur en conseil,

                     À ces causes, sur recommandation du premier ministre et en vertu du paragraphe 65(5) de la Loi canadienne sur l’évaluation environnementale, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil approuve le fait que Robert Connelly exerce les fonctions de président de l’Agence canadienne d’évaluation environnementale pour une période dépassant

quatre-vingt-dix jours, à compter du 26 février 2004.
