                     Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, pursuant to Vote No. 1 (Foreign Affairs) of Appropriation Act No. 2, 2003-2004, hereby:

          (a)      appoints the Honourable Allan Rock, P.C., as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations in New York;

          (b)      fixes his salary at the rate set out in the schedule hereto, which salary is within the range ($180,500 - $212,300); and

          (c)      upon appointment of his successor, provides for a transitional period to permit the provision of information or advice with respect to any related matter;

effective January 5, 2004.

                     Sur recommandation du ministre des Affaires étrangères et en vertu du crédit n° 1 (Affaires étrangères) de la Loi de crédits n° 2 pour 2003-2004, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

          a)       nomme l’honorable Allan Rock, c.p., en qualité d’ambassadeur et représentant permanent du Canada auprès de l’Organisation des Nations Unies à New York;

          b)       fixe son traitement au taux spécifié à l’annexe

ci-jointe, lequel traitement se situe dans l’échelle (180 500 $ - 212 300 $);

          c)       accorde une période transitoire, au moment de la nomination de son successeur, lui permettant de fournir les renseignements et les avis qui se rapportent à tous les sujets reliés;

à compter du 5 janvier 2004.
