Whereas section 11 of the Parks Canada Agency Act provides that if the Chief Executive Officer of the Parks Canada Agency is absent or incapacitated or the office of the Chief Executive Officer is vacant, the Minister of the Environment may appoint any person to exercise the powers and perform the duties and functions of the Chief Executive Officer;

And whereas section 11 of that Act specifies that no person so appointed may serve in this capacity for a term exceeding ninety days without the approval of the Governor in Council;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, under section 11 of the Parks Canada Agency Act, approves the appointment of Andrew Campbell, of Ottawa, Ontario, to be Chief Executive Officer of the Parks Canada Agency on an interim basis, to hold office during pleasure for a term of six months or until such time as a new Chief Executive Officer is appointed, whichever occurs first, and fixes his remuneration as set out in the annexed schedule, which salary is within the range GC 8 ($253,300 - $298,000).

Attendu que l’article 11 de la Loi sur l’Agence Parcs Canada prévoit qu’en cas d’absence ou d’empêchement du directeur général de l’Agence Parcs Canada ou de vacance du poste, la ministre de l’Environnement peut nommer toute personne pour exercer les pouvoirs et effectuer les tâches du directeur général de l’Agence;

Et attendu que l’article 11 de cette loi précise qu’aucune personne ainsi nommée ne peut exercer ces fonctions pour un mandat de plus de quatre-vingt-dix jours sans l’approbation du gouverneur en conseil;
