Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the representation in the House of Commons for the electoral district of Toronto — St. Paul’s, in Ontario, by reason of the resignation of the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, P.C.;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, under subsection 57(1.1) of the Canada Elections Act,

(a) directs the Chief Electoral Officer to issue a writ of election to the returning officer for the electoral district of Toronto — St. Paul’s, in Ontario;

(b) fixes the date of issue of the writ to be May 19, 2024; and

(c) fixes the date for voting to be June 24, 2024.

Attendu qu’une vacance s’est produite à la Chambre des communes pour la circonscription électorale de Toronto — St. Paul’s (Ontario) en raison de la démission de l’honorable Carolyn Bennet, C.P.,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du premier ministre, en vertu du paragraphe 57(1.1) de la Loi électorale du Canada, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

a) ordonne au directeur général des élections de délivrer un bref au directeur du scrutin de la circonscription électorale de Toronto — St. Paul’s (Ontario);

b) fixe la date de délivrance du bref au 19 mai 2024;

c) fixe la date de tenue du scrutin au 24 juin 2024.
