Whereas, after consultation with the leader of every recognized party in the House of Commons, by resolution of the House of Commons dated February 29, 2024, the House of Commons has approved the appointment of the Honourable Konrad Winrich von Finckenstein, C.M., as Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner;

Therefore, the Committee of the Privy Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, advises that:

(a)  under subsections 81(1) and 82(1) of the Parliament of Canada Act, a Commission do issue under the Great Seal appointing the Honourable Konrad Winrich von Finckenstein, C.M., of Ottawa, Ontario, to be Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, to hold office during good behaviour for a term of seven years; and

(b)  under subsection 83(1) of the Parliament of Canada Act, fixes his salary at an amount to be equal to that of a judge of the Federal Court, other than the Chief Justice of that Court, as amended from time to time,

effective March 5, 2024.

Attendu que, après consultation du chef de chacun des partis reconnus à la Chambre des communes, et par résolution prise le 29 février 2024, la Chambre des communes a approuvé la nomination de l’honorable Konrad Winrich von Finckenstein, C.M. à titre de commissaire aux conflits d’intérêts et à l’éthique ;

À ces causes, sur recommandation du premier ministre, le Comité du Conseil privé recommande :

a)  en vertu des paragraphes 81(1) et 82(1) de la Loi sur le Parlement du Canada, de nommer, par commission sous le grand sceau, l’honorable Konrad Winrich von Finckenstein, C.M., d’Ottawa (Ontario), commissaire aux conflits d’intérêts et à l’éthique, à titre inamovible, pour un mandat de sept ans ;

b)  en vertu du paragraphe 83(1) de la Loi sur le Parlement du Canada, fixe son traitement, lequel sera l’équivalent de celui d’un juge de la Cour fédérale, autre que le juge en chef, modifié de temps à autre,

à compter du 5 mars 2024.
