Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of the Environment, pursuant to section 8 of the Heritage Railway Stations Protection Act, authorizes VIA Rail Canada Inc. to make alterations to the main entrance and platform egress doors, as well as to the floor and walls in the main concourse area, at its railway station in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the attached schedule.
Sur recommandation de la ministre de l’Environnement et en vertu de l'article 8 de la Loi sur la protection des gares ferroviaires patrimoniales, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil autorise VIA Rail Canada à apporter des modifications aux portes de l’entrée principale et aux portes de sortie de quai, ainsi qu’au plancher et aux murs de la zone du hall principal, à sa gare ferroviaire située à Halifax (Nouvelle Écosse), selon les modalités figurant à l’annexe ci-jointe.
SCHEDULE
It is recommended that VIA Rail Canada be authorized to make alterations to its railway station in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on terms and conditions as follows:
1) the work will consist of:
a. removing the current door assemblies at the station’s main entrance and platform egress doorways and replacing them with door assemblies that meet current universal accessibility standards;
b. installing twenty-six ventilation grates in the floor and walls of the station’s main concourse area;
2) the work must be completed in accordance with the recommendations contained in the Review of Alterations Reports prepared by the Cultural Heritage Policies Branch of the Parks Canada Agency for this project.
The above terms and conditions recognize the importance of this station, designated a heritage railway station for the purposes of the Heritage Railway Stations Protection Act, for the reasons set out in the Heritage Character Statement prepared by the Parks Canada Agency for the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.

Il est recommandé d'autoriser VIA Rail Canada à apporter des modifications à sa gare ferroviaire située à Halifax (Nouvelle-Écosse), selon les modalités suivantes :
1) les travaux consisteront à :
a. retirer les ensembles de portes actuels à l’entrée principale de la gare et aux entrées de porte de sortie de quai et à les remplacer par des ensembles de portes qui répondront aux exigences actuelles en matière d’accessibilité universelle;
b. installer vingt-six grilles de ventilation dans le plancher et les murs du hall principal de la gare;
2) les travaux devront être réalisés en conformité avec les recommandations contenues dans les rapports d’examen de modifications rédigés par la Direction des politiques sur le patrimoine culturel de l’Agence Parcs Canada pour ce projet.
Ces modalités tiennent compte de l'importance de cette gare, désignée gare ferroviaire patrimoniale en vertu de la Loi sur la protection des gares ferroviaires patrimoniales, pour les raisons exposées dans l'énoncé de la valeur patrimoniale préparé par l’Agence Parcs Canada pour la Commission des lieux et monuments historiques du Canada.
