Whereas the Honourable Norman M. Karam, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, elected to give up regular judicial duties and hold office only as a supernumerary judge as of March 6, 2008;

And whereas the Honourable Norman M. Karam will cease to old office as a supernumerary judge on the expiry of 10 years from the date of his election, on March 6, 2018, pursuant to subsection 29(1) of the Judges Act;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to subsection 29(1) and paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, grants the Honourable Norman M. Karam an annuity of $210,200, commencing on March 6, 2018 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Norman M. Karam, juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, a décidé d’abandonner ses fonctions judiciaires normales pour n’exercer sa charge qu’à titre de juge surnuméraire à compter du 6 mars 2008;

Attendu que l’honorable Norman M. Karam aura exercé sa charge de juge surnuméraire pendant une période de dix ans le 6 mars 2018, et que conformément au paragraphe 29(1) de la Loi sur les juges, il cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date,

À ces causes, sur recommandation de la ministre de la Justice et en vertu du paragraphe 29(1) et de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable Norman M. Karam une pension viagère annuelle de 210 200 $, payable à compter du 6 mars 2018.
