Whereas by Order in Council P.C. 2012-170 of March 1, 2012, Christine Douglass-Williams was appointed as a Director of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, and by Order in Council P.C. 2015-681 of May 28, 2015 was reappointed as a Director of the Board of Directors;

Whereas on July 25, 2017, the Minister of Canadian Heritage wrote to Christine Douglass-Williams informing her of the Minister’s concerns about Christine Douglass-Williams’ capacity to continue serving as a Director of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, providing her with information regarding those concerns and inviting her, by August 11, 2017, to make any representations that she wished to have taken into account before any decision was made on whether to terminate her appointment;

And whereas the Governor General in Council has carefully considered the July 25, 2017 correspondence sent by the Minister to Christine Douglass-Williams and the submissions made by Christine Douglass-Williams on September 19, 2017, as well as related correspondence of September 5, 2017, and September 12, 2017;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Canadian Heritage pursuant to section 6 of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation Act, terminates the appointment of Christine Douglass-Williams as a Director of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, and fixes certain conditions of employment as set out in the annexed schedule.

Attendu que, par le décret C.P. 2012-170 du 1^er mars 2012, Christine Douglass-Williams a été nommée administratrice du conseil d’administration de la Fondation canadienne des relations raciales, et que, par le décret C.P. 2015-681 du 28 mai 2015, elle a de nouveau été nommée administratrice du conseil d’administration;

Attendu que, le 25 juillet 2017, la ministre du Patrimoine canadien a écrit à Christine Douglass-Williams pour l’informer des préoccupations de la ministre quant à sa capacité à continuer d’être administratrice du conseil d’administration de la Fondation canadienne des relations raciales, en lui fournissant des renseignements liés à ces préoccupations et en l’invitant, d’ici le 11 août 2017, à présenter des observations dont elle voudrait que l’on tienne compte avant qu’une décision soit prise au sujet de la révocation de sa nomination;

Attendu que la gouverneure générale en conseil a examiné attentivement la lettre que la ministre a envoyée le 25 juillet 2017 à Christine Douglass-Williams et les observations faites par Christine Douglass Williams le 19 septembre 2017 ainsi que la correspondance connexe du 5 septembre 2017 et le 12 septembre 2017;

À ces causes, sur recommandation de la ministre du Patrimoine canadien et en vertu de l’article 6 de la Loi sur la Fondation canadienne des relations raciales, Son Excellence la gouverneure générale en conseil met fin à la nomination de Christine Douglass-Williams, administratrice du conseil d’administration de la Fondation canadienne des relations raciales, et fixe certaines conditions d’emploi conformément à l’annexe ci-jointe.
