Whereas the ?Akisq’nuk First Nation, formerly known as the Columbia Lake Indian Band, is a band within the meaning of the Indian Act (the Band);

Whereas on or about November 4, 1941, the Province of British Columbia transferred the administration and control of the closed road lands described in the attached schedule (the Lands) to His Majesty the King as represented by the Superintendent General of Indian Affairs;

Whereas since, November 4, 1941, the Band has occupied the Lands and Canada has consistently treated the Lands as reserve and has administered them in accordance with the Indian Act;

And whereas, since there is no known formal record to confirm that the Lands were set apart for the use and benefit of the Band, Canada wishes to establish a clear record and confirm the status of the Lands since November 4, 1941 forward;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development confirms that the Lands described in the attached schedule, have been set apart for the use and benefit of the ?Akisq’nuk First Nation, formerly known as the Columbia Lake Indian Band, as part of Columbia Lake Indian Reserve No. 3 in British Columbia, since November 4, 1941, and continue to be set apart for the ?Akisq’nuk First Nation for that purpose.

Attendu que la Première Nation d'?Akisq'nuk, anciennement connue comme la bande indienne de Columbia Lake, constitue une bande au sens de la Loi sur les Indiens (la bande);

Attendu que le ou vers le 4 novembre 1941, la province de la Colombie-Britannique a transféré la gestion et la maîtrise des terres de la route fermée, décrites dans l’annexe ci-jointe (les terres), à Sa Majesté le Roi, représenté par le surintendant général des affaires indiennes;

Attendu que depuis le 4 novembre 1941, la bande occupe les terres et que le Canada les a toujours traitées comme des terres de réserve et gérées conformément à la Loi sur les Indiens;
