 Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 128 of the Constitution Act, 1867, authorizes the persons occupying any of the following positions, to administer the Oath of Allegiance contained in the Fifth Schedule to that Act to every member of the Senate of Canada and to receive the Declaration of Qualification contained in that Schedule, and to have that power during their tenure of office in any of those positions:

(a) Clerk of the Senate and Clerk of the Parliaments; and

(b) Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel.

Sur recommandation du premier ministre et en vertu de l’article 128 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil autorise les personnes titulaires de l’un ou l’autre des postes ci-après à faire prêter et souscrire, à tout membre du Sénat, le serment d’allégeance énoncé dans la cinquième annexe de cette loi ainsi que la déclaration des qualifications énoncée dans cette annexe, et à détenir ce pouvoir pendant la période où elles occupent l’un ou l’autre de ces postes :

a) greffier du Sénat et greffier des Parlements;

b) légiste et conseiller parlementaire.
