Whereas the Honourable Alan D. Sheffield, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario, Family Court branch, will attain the age of seventy-five years on November 29, 2016, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of subsection 99(2) of the Constitution Act, 1867;

And whereas the Honourable Alan D. Sheffield has held judicial office for at least ten years;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, grants an annuity of $209,400 to the Honourable Alan D. Sheffield, commencing on November 29, 2016 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Alan D. Sheffield, juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, Cour de la famille, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 29 novembre 2016 et que, en conséquence, il cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date en application du paragraphe 99(2) de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

Attendu que l’honorable Alan D. Sheffield a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

À ces causes, sur recommandation de la ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil accorde à l’honorable Alan D. Sheffield une pension viagère de 209 400 $, payable à compter du 29 novembre 2016.
