Whereas the Honourable Catherine A. Ryan, a Judge of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, who has continued in judicial office for at least fifteen years, has tendered her resignation effective August 31, 2013, and as of this date her combined age and number of years in judicial office is not less than eighty;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice,

(a) accepts the resignation of the Honourable Catherine A. Ryan; and

(b) pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(a) of the Judges Act, grants the Honourable Catherine A. Ryan an annuity of $197,000, commencing on August 31, 2013, and continuing during her life.

Attendu que l’honorable Catherine A. Ryan, juge de la Cour d’appel de la Colombie-Britannique, après avoir exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins quinze ans, a donné sa démission, laquelle prend effet le 31 août 2013, et que, à cette date, le chiffre obtenu par l’addition de son âge et du nombre d’années d’exercice est d’au moins quatre-vingts,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de l’honorable Catherine A. Ryan;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)a) de la Loi sur les juges, accorde à l’honorable Catherine A. Ryan, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 197 000 $, payable à compter du 31 août 2013.
