Whereas, by letters patent issued on March 21, 1967, the Order of Canada was instituted, erected, constituted and created in Canada;

Whereas those letters patent ordained, directed and appointed that the Order of Canada be governed by the Constitution of the Order of Canada annexed to the letters patent;

Whereas letters patent did issue on May 26, 1997, repealing the Constitution of the Order of Canada and replacing it with the Constitution of the Order of Canada, 1997;

And whereas it is desirable and Our Privy Council for Canada has advised that letters patent do issue amending the Constitution of the Order of Canada, 1997;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, orders that letters patent do issue, under the Great Seal of Canada, amending the Constitution of the Order of Canada, 1997 in accordance with the annexed schedule.

Attendu que, par des lettres patentes délivrées le 21 mars 1967, l’Ordre du Canada a été institué, fondé, constitué et créé au Canada;

Attendu que ces lettres patentes ont ordonné, décrété et décidé que l’Ordre du Canada serait régi par les Statuts de l’Ordre du Canada figurant en annexe des lettres patentes;

Attendu que, par des lettres patentes délivrées le 26 mai 1997, ces statuts ont été abrogés et remplacés par la Constitution de l’Ordre du Canada (1997);

Attendu qu’il est souhaitable que soient délivrées des lettres patentes modifiant la Constitution de l’Ordre du Canada (1997), et que Notre Conseil privé pour le Canada en a fait la recommandation,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du premier ministre, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil ordonne la délivrance, sous le grand sceau du Canada, de lettres patentes modifiant la Constitution de l’Ordre du Canada (1997), conformément à l’annexe ci-après.
