Whereas the Honourable Paul G. Chaput, a Puisne Judge of the Superior Court of Quebec, who has continued in judicial office for at least fifteen years, has tendered his resignation effective June 1, 2012, and as of this date his combined age and number of years in judicial office is not less than eighty;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, hereby

(a) accepts the resignation of the Honourable Paul G. Chaput; and

(b) pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(a) of the Judges Act, grants an annuity of $187,400 to the Honourable Paul G. Chaput commencing on June 1, 2012, and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Paul G. Chaput, juge puîné de la Cour supérieure du Québec, après avoir exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins quinze ans, a donné sa démission, laquelle prend effet le 1^er juin 2012, et que, à cette date, le chiffre obtenu par l’addition de son âge et du nombre d’années d’exercice est d’au moins quatre-vingts,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de l’honorable Paul G. Chaput;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)a) de la Loi sur les juges, accorde à l’honorable Paul G. Chaput, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 187 400 $, payable à compter du 1^er juin 2012.
