His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, hereby authorizes the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to make an ex gratia payment of $24,000 to the family of each victim of the Air India Flight 182 tragedy. The payments represent an expression of solicitude on the part of the Government of Canada with respect to the treatment received by the families of the victims in the years following the tragedy and do not constitute an admission of liability on the part of the Crown.

Sur recommandation du ministre de la Sécurité publique et de la Protection civile, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil autorise celui-ci à faire un paiement de 24 000 $ à titre gracieux à la famille de chaque victime de la tragédie du vol 182 d’Air India en témoignage de la sollicitude du gouvernement du Canada relativement au traitement reçu par les familles des victimes au cours des années suivant la tragédie, ce paiement ne constituant en aucune façon une reconnaissance de responsabilité de la part de l’État.
