Whereas vacancies exist in the officer establishment numbers within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the maximum of which, in each rank, is prescribed by the Treasury Board pursuant to subsection 6(2) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, pursuant to paragraph 6(3)(c) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act, hereby appoints, by way of promotion, Inspector Ian Robert Cowan to the rank of Superintendent.

Attendu qu’il existe des vacances au sein de l’effectif des officiers de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada, dont le nombre maximal de chaque grade est fixé par le Conseil du Trésor en vertu du paragraphe 6(2) de la Loi sur la Gendarmerie royale du Canada,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Sécurité publique et de la Protection civile et en vertu de l’alinéa 6(3)c) de la Loi sur la Gendarmerie royale du Canada, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil nomme, par voie de promotion, l’inspecteur Ian Robert Cowan au grade de surintendant.
