Whereas the Honourable Eric J. Rice, a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, has become afflicted with a permanent infirmity disabling him from the due execution of his office and has tendered his resignation;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, hereby

(a) accepts the resignation of the Honourable Eric J. Rice; and

(b) pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(c) of the Judges Act, grants to the Honourable Eric J. Rice an annuity of $187,400, to commence on the date of this Order in Council and to continue during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Eric J. Rice, juge de la Cour suprême de la Colombie-Britannique, a donné sa démission pour incapacité par suite d’une infirmité permanente,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence le Gouverneur général en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de l’honorable Eric J. Rice;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)c) de la Loi sur les juges, accorde à l’honorable Eric J. Rice, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 187 400 $, commençant à la date du présent décret et se terminant à la date de son décès.
