Whereas, pursuant to subsection 562.12(1) of the Canada Shipping Act, a copy of the proposed Regulations Amending the Steering Appliances and Equipment Regulations, substantially in the form set out in the annexed Regulations, was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on May 19, 2001 and a reasonable opportunity was thereby afforded to ship owners, masters, seamen and other interested persons to make representations to the Minister of Transport with respect to the proposed Regulations;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, pursuant to subsection 338(1), section 562.11 and subsection 657(1) of the Canada Shipping Act and section 12 of the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act, hereby makes the annexed Regulations Amending the Steering Appliances and Equipment Regulations.

Attendu que, conformément au paragraphe 562.12(1) de la Loi sur la marine marchande du Canada, le projet de règlement intitulé Règlement modifiant le Règlement sur les apparaux de gouverne, conforme en substance au texte ci-après, a été publié dans la Gazette du Canada Partie I le 19 mai 2001 et que les propriétaires de navire, capitaines, marins et autres intéressés ont ainsi eu la possibilité de présenter leurs observations à cet égard au ministre des Transports,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre des Transports et en vertu du paragraphe 338(1), de l'article 562.11 et du paragraphe 657(1) de la Loi sur la marine marchande du Canada et de l'article 12 de la Loi sur la prévention de la pollution des eaux arctiques, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil prend le Règlement modifiant le Règlement sur les apparaux de gouverne, ci-après.
