                 Whereas the Honourable Michael I. Catliff, a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, will attain the age of seventy-five years on June 30, 2003, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

                 And whereas Mr. Justice Catliff has held judicial office for at least ten years;

                 Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $144,400 to the Honourable Michael I. Catliff, commencing on June 30, 2003, and continuing thenceforth during his life.

                 Attendu que l’honorable Michael I. Catliff, juge de la Cour suprême de la Colombie-Britannique, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 30 juin 2003 et, en conséquence, cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date en vertu de l’article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

                 Attendu que le juge Catliff a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

                 À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable Michael I. Catliff, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 144 400 $, payable à compter du 30 juin 2003.
