Whereas the Honourable Walter T. Stayshyn, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the Province of Ontario, will attain the age of 75 years on November 14, 2009 and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under subsection 99(2) of the Constitution Act, 1867;

And whereas the Honourable Walter T. Stayshyn has held judicial office for at least 10 years;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $178,133.33 to the Honourable Walter T. Stayshyn, commencing on November 14, 2009 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Walter T. Stayshyn, juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 14 novembre 2009 et, en conséquence, cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date en application du paragraphe 99(2) de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

Attendu que l’honorable Walter T. Stayshyn a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable Walter T. Stayshyn, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 178 133,33 $, à compter du 14 novembre 2009.
