Whereas the office of the Information Commissioner is vacant;

And whereas subsection 54(4) of the Access to Information Act provides that if the office of the Information Commissioner is vacant, the Governor in Council may appoint any qualified person to hold that office in the interim for a term not exceeding six months;

   Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to subsection 54(4) of the Access to Information Act, hereby appoints Suzanne Legault of Gatineau, Quebec, to hold the office in the interim, for a term of six months or until such time as an Information Commissioner is appointed, whichever is earlier, and fixes her salary as set out in the annexed schedule, which salary is within the range ($227,100 - $267,200), effective June 30, 2009.

Attendu que le paragraphe 54(4) de la Loi sur l’accès à l’information prévoit que, durant la vacance du poste de commissaire à l’information, le gouverneur en conseil peut confier l’intérim à toute personne compétente, pour un mandat maximal de six mois,

   À ces causes, sur recommandation du premier ministre et en vertu du paragraphe 54(4) de la Loi sur l’accès à l’information, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil confie à Suzanne Legault, de Gatineau (Québec), l’intérim du poste du commissaire à l’information, pour un mandat maximal de six mois ou jusqu’à ce qu’un commissaire à l’information soit nommé, selon la première de ces éventualités, et fixe sa rémunération conformément à l’annexe ci-jointe, laquelle rémunération se situe dans l’échelle (227 100 $ - 267 200 $), à compter du 30 juin 2009.
