    Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 56 of the Judges Act and Order in Council P.C. 2008-793 of April 25, 2008, hereby

 (a)  appoints the Honourable Murray Sinclair of Winnipeg, Manitoba, a judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba, to be Commissioner of the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission, to hold office during good behaviour for a term of five years; and

 (b)  designates the Honourable Murray Sinclair to be Chairperson of the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission;

effective July 1, 2009.

   Sur recommandation du premier ministre et en vertu de l’article 56 de la Loi sur les juges et du décret 2008-793 du 25 avril 2008, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

 a)  nomme l’honorable Murray Sinclair, de Winnipeg (Manitoba), juge de la Cour du Banc de la Reine du Manitoba, à titre de commissaire de la Commission de vérité et de réconciliation relative aux pensionnats indiens, à titre inamovible, pour un mandat de cinq ans;

  b)  désigne l’honorable Murray Sinclair à titre de président de la Commission de vérité et de réconciliation relative aux pensionnats indiens.

Ces mesures prennent effet le 1^er juillet 2009.
