Whereas the Honourable Paul Cosgrove, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the Province of Ontario, who has continued in judicial office for at least fifteen years, has tendered his resignation effective April 1, 2009, and as of this date his combined age and number of years in judicial office is not less than eighty;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, hereby

(a) accepts the resignation of the Honourable Paul Cosgrove; and

(b) pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(a) of the Judges Act, grants him an annuity of $178,133.33 commencing on April 1, 2009 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Paul Cosgrove, juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, après avoir exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins quinze ans, a donné sa démission, laquelle prend effet le 1^er avril 2009, et qu’à cette date, le chiffre obtenu par l’addition de son âge et du nombre d’années d’exercice est d’au moins quatre-vingts,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil :

a) accepte la démission de l’honorable Paul Cosgrove;

b) en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)a) de la Loi sur les juges, lui accorde, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 178 133,33 $, payable à compter du 1^er avril 2009.
