Whereas the Honourable G. Gordon Sedgwick, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the Province of Ontario, will attain the age of seventy-five years on July 27, 2009, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

And whereas the Honourable G. Gordon Sedgwick has held judicial office for at least ten years;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $178,133.33 to the Honourable G. Gordon Sedgwick, commencing on July 27, 2009 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable G. Gordon Sedgwick, juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 27 juillet 2009 et, en conséquence, cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date en vertu de l’article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

Attendu que l’honorable G. Gordon Sedgwick a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable G. Gordon Sedgwick, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 178 133,33 $, payable à compter du 27 juillet 2009.
