                     Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to subsection 8(1) of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Act, hereby appoints Jonathan Fried of Ottawa, Ontario, to be Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to hold office during pleasure, and fixes his salary at the rate set out in the schedule hereto, which salary is within the range ($153,000 - $180,100), effective June 2, 2003.

                     Sur recommandation du premier ministre et en vertu du paragraphe 8(1) de la Loi sur le ministère des Affaires étrangères et du Commerce international, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil nomme Jonathan Fried, d’Ottawa (Ontario), au poste de sous-ministre délégué des Affaires étrangères, à titre amovible, et fixe son traitement conformément à l'annexe ci-jointe, lequel traitement se situe dans l'échelle (153 000 $ - 180 100 $), à compter du 2 juin 2003.
