Whereas the Honourable John E. Sheppard, a

Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the

Province of Ontario, will attain the age of seventy‑five years on November 22, 2008, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

 

And whereas the Honourable John E. Sheppard has held judicial office for at least ten years;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $173,333.33 to the Honourable John E. Sheppard, commencing on November 22, 2008, and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l'honorable John E. Sheppard,

juge de la Cour supérieure de justice de l’Ontario, atteindra l'âge de soixante‑quinze ans le 22 novembre 2008 et, en conséquence, cessera d'occuper son poste à cette date en vertu de l'article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

 

Attendu que l’honorable John E. Sheppard a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

 

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l'alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à    l'honorable John E. Sheppard, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 173 333,33 $, payable à compter du 22 novembre 2008.
