Whereas the Honourable Allan McEachern, Chief Justice of British Columbia, attained the age of seventy‑five years on May 20, 2001, retired on that date and was granted an annuity of $134,000 by Order in Council P.C. 2001‑737 dated April 26, 2001, which was increased to $149,466.66 pursuant to chapter 7 of the Statutes of Canada, 2001;

 

And whereas the Honourable Allan McEachern died on January 10, 2008 and is survived by a widow, Mary V. Newbury;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to section 44 of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $74,733.33 to Mary V. Newbury, widow of the Honourable Allan McEachern, effective January 11, 2008 and continuing during her life.
