Whereas the Honourable Claire Barrette-Joncas, a Puisne Judge of the Superior Court of Quebec, will attain the age of seventy‑five years on May 18, 2008, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

 

And whereas the Honourable Claire Barrette-Joncas has held judicial office for at least ten years;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $168,000 to the Honourable Claire Barrette-Joncas, commencing on May 18, 2008 and continuing during her life.

Attendu que l'honorable Claire Barrette-Joncas, juge de la Cour supérieure du Québec, atteindra l'âge de soixante‑quinze ans                          le 18 mai 2008 et, en conséquence, cessera d'occuper son poste à cette date en vertu de l'article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

 

Attendu que l’honorable Claire Barrette-Joncas a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

 

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l'alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l'honorable Claire Barrette-Joncas, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 168 000 $, payable à compter              du 18 mai 2008.
