Whereas the Honourable Gaston Desjardins, a Puisne Judge of the Superior Court of Quebec, will attain the age of seventy‑five years on October 2, 2007, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

 

And whereas the Honourable Gaston Desjardins has held judicial office for at least ten years;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $168,000 to the Honourable Gaston Desjardins, commencing on October 2, 2007 and continuing during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Gaston Desjardins, juge puîné de la Cour supérieure du Québec, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 2 octobre 2007 et, en conséquence, cessera d’occuper sa charge à cette date en application de l’article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

 

Attendu que l’honorable Gaston Desjardins a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

 

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable Gaston Desjardins, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 168 000 $, payable à compter du 2 octobre 2007.
