Whereas the Minister of the Environment, pursuant to subsection 9(2) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on March 17, 2007, the proposed Canada-Ontario Agreement Respecting the Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem;

 

And whereas, on June 2, 2007, pursuant to subsection 9(4) of that Act, the Minister of the Environment published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, a report that summarizes how comments or notices of objection were dealt with in response to the publication of the proposed Canada-Ontario Agreement Respecting the Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of the Environment, the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, pursuant to subsection 9(5) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, section 48 of the Canada Transportation Act and section 5 of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Act, hereby approves the entry by the Minister of the Environment, the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on behalf of Her Majesty in right of Canada, into the Canada-Ontario Agreement Respecting the Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem with the Government of the Province of Ontario, substantially in accordance with the annexed draft Agreement.

Attendu que, conformément au paragraphe 9(2) de la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (1999), le ministre de l’Environnement a publié dans la Gazette du Canada Partie I le 17 mars 2007, le projet d’accord intitulé Accord Canada-Ontario concernant l’écosystème du bassin des Grands Lacs;

 

Attendu que, le 2 juin 2007, le ministre de l’Environnement, en vertu du paragraphe 9(4) de cette loi, a publié dans la Gazette du Canada Partie I, un résumé de la suite qu’il a donnée aux observations ou oppositions reçues du fait de la publication du projet d’accord intitulé Accord Canada-Ontario concernant l’écosystème du bassin des Grands Lacs,

 

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de l’Environnement, du ministre des Transports et du ministre des Pêches et des Océans et en vertu du paragraphe 9(5) de la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (1999), de l’article 48 de la Loi sur les transports au Canada et de l’article 5 de la Loi sur le ministère des Pêches et des Océans, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil approuve que le ministre de l’Environnement, le ministre des Transports et le ministre des Pêches et des Océans, au nom de Sa Majesté du chef du Canada, concluent avec le gouvernement de l’Ontario l’Accord Canada-Ontario concernant l’écosystème du bassin des Grands Lacs, lequel est conforme en substance au projet d’accord ci‑joint.
