Whereas the Honourable Fintan J. Aylward, a Judge of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, will attain the age of seventy-five years on March 11, 2003, and, therefore, will cease to hold office on that date under the provisions of section 99 of the Constitution Act, 1867;

And whereas Mr. Justice Aylward has held judicial office for at least ten years;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to paragraph 42(1)(d) of the Judges Act, hereby grants an annuity of $140,133.33 to the Honourable Fintan J. Aylward, commencing on March 11, 2003, and continuing thenceforth during his life.

Attendu que l’honorable Fintan J. Aylward, juge de la Division de première instance de la Cour suprême de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, atteindra l’âge de soixante-quinze ans le 11 mars 2003 et, en conséquence, cessera d’occuper son poste à cette date en vertu de l’article 99 de la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867;

Attendu que le juge Aylward a exercé des fonctions judiciaires pendant au moins dix ans,

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre de la Justice et en vertu de l’alinéa 42(1)d) de la Loi sur les juges, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil accorde à l’honorable Fintan J. Aylward, à titre viager, une pension annuelle de 140 133,33 $, payable à compter du 11 mars 2003.
